Mounjaro prices are set to increase from 1 September 2025. This change is coming directly from Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro, and applies to all healthcare providers in the UK.

If you’re using Mounjaro, you’ll probably have some questions about the cost of your treatment and what it might mean for your weight loss journey going forward. You may also be thinking about switching to another GLP-1 medicine, like Wegovy.

We’re here to support you through your weight loss journey at every stage, and our team of clinicians can help you through any decisions you might want to make.

In this article, Dr Christina answers common questions about the price increase, latest stock information, alternative treatment options and how we’ll keep helping you to reach your weight loss goals.

Why has the price increased?

Eli Lilly, who manufactures Mounjaro, has said that the price increase brings the UK in line with Europe and other developed countries. This means as the manufacturing price changes, the price you and other patients pay can also change. All UK providers will be affected by these price increases.

What will the price change be and when will it come into effect?

We know it’s frustrating to hear that our prices will change, but we always do our best to keep our Mounjaro prices as fair and accessible as possible. From 1 September 2025, our prices will be:

Mounjaro

I’m a weight loss patient on Mounjaro. What does this mean for me?

We understand a price change may impact how you manage your treatment and your long-term plans. There are options if Mounjaro is no longer right for you or if you feel the price increase is unaffordable – we offer other weight loss treatments including Wegovy, which may be a more affordable alternative for some patients. You might also consider staying on the same dose of Mounjaro for longer.

Whatever you choose, we’ll support you throughout your weight loss journey, whether that includes a change in treatment or continuing with your current plan.

Can I order multiple pens at today’s price?

Unfortunately we can’t offer more than one pen due to limited stock availability. We’ll continue to review this.

I want to continue with Mounjaro but you don’t have my strength in stock. What can I do?

New Mounjaro stock should be available in Boots stores from 3 September. If you can, please wait until 1 September to place an order.

Ideally, there should be no more than 7 days between injections, but you can safely extend the gap between your injections for up to 14 days if necessary.

If you’re an existing Boots Online Doctor Mounjaro customer and do not have enough medicine to last, please message us in your patient record.

You might also consider switching to Wegovy as a more affordable option (there’s more information on this below).

Please keep in mind that it may take us up to 48 hours to reply to any messages at the moment.

Can I switch from Mounjaro to Wegovy?

Yes. We can help you switch safely to a Wegovy dose that best matches your current Mounajro dose for a smooth transition. We’ve now reduced our Wegovy prices so you pay less without losing your progress.

Wegovy

Our clinical team will handle everything, making sure you transition to the highest appropriate dose safely and smoothly. You won’t need to start again or take any breaks. It’s important you tell us if you’re experiencing any side effects so we can make sure you’re on the most appropriate dose for you.

To switch from Mounjaro to Wegovy, complete our questionnaire and our clinical team will support you with next steps. If you’ve already placed an order for Mounjaro and you’re waiting to hear from us but would like to switch to Wegovy, you don’t need to fill out the questionnaire again. Just send us a message in your patient record telling us that you’d like to switch.

Can I switch back to Mounjaro in the next month?

Yes, but please keep in mind that if you switch back to Mounjaro after using Wegovy, you’ll need to go on a lower dose of Mounjaro than you were on before you switched.

What’s the difference between Mounjaro and Wegovy?

Mounjaro and Wegovy are both weekly injection pens and work in similar ways to help with weight loss.

Mounjaro works on two different hormonal receptors: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), whereas Wegovy only works on GLP-1. Mounjaro results in 21% weight loss on average, and Wegovy results in 15% average loss. Although Wegovy isn’t quite as effective as Mounjaro, it still helps you lose weight.

Find out more about Mounjaro and learn about Wegovy in our treatment library.

Will I have to start again and have a break from treatment if I switch to Wegovy?

No, our experienced clinical team can guide you through switching to an appropriate Wegovy dose based on your current treatment. You won’t need to take a break or start from the lowest dose.

What will happen if I switch?

Everyone responds to treatment differently. As with all medicines, side effects can happen and they vary in different people. If you’re worried about side effects you’re experiencing, let us know in your patient record so we can help.

If you’re concerned about your weight loss progress, keep in mind that weight loss plateaus and other changes are normal. Successful, long-term weight loss is about much more than just medicine – building healthy eating and lifestyle habits you can stick to is key while using the medicine to support you. Our service offers a range of support along the way, including a podcast, weekly webinars, a 10-week programme, exercise videos and more.

What’s the cheapest Mounjaro I can buy?

Avoid buying Mounjaro from unregulated sellers or black-market sources – it can be unsafe, counterfeit or ineffective. Prices between legitimate UK providers can vary due to different supply and service costs. Boots Online Doctor only supplies genuine, UK-licensed Mounjaro through a registered pharmacy.

Can I switch to Boots Online Doctor and stay on the same Mounjaro dose?

Yes. You can switch to Boots Online Doctor and stay on your current Mounjaro dose, subject to a consultation and review of your medical history as well as stock availability.
